Steps for using regular conditioner on synthetic wigs(toupee)

Synthetic wigs (toupees) are wigs made of synthetic fibers such as plastic. Synthetic wigs (toupee) should be washed after about 10 wears. The difference between synthetic wigs and human hair is that they cannot be exposed to high temperatures, so you should always wash them with cold water. While some conditioners are specifically designed for synthetic wigs, you can also use a regular conditioner to soften and care for your hair.

 The steps are as follows:

  1. Put the wig on the shelf. It is best to use an open wig holder for cleaning rather than a foam polystyrene holder. The holder allows water to pass through the base and does not deform the wig (toupee).
  2. Combing wigs to prevent tangles. Start at the ends of the hair and gently work your way up to the roots.
  3. Turn on the faucet and let the soft, low-pressure water flow. Place the wig under running water and soak the hair. Keep the wig upright.
  4. Apply shampoo to the palm of your hand and rub to emulsify. Cover the wig with shampoo and do not rub or scrub the hair.
  5. Thoroughly rinse the shampoo from the wig
  6. Squeeze a coin-sized amount of conditioner into the palm of your hand. Apply to the ends of your hair and work your way down to the roots.
  7. Comb through hair with fingers to disperse conditioner, then continue combing hair. Lasting 3 minutes.
  8. Rinse the conditioner on the wig and be careful to keep it upright. Run your fingers through the hair to remove any residue.
  9. Remove the wig from the rack and place it on the towel. Roll the wig into the towel to absorb the moisture. Avoid rubbing the hair.
  10. Put the wig back on the wig rack and let it dry completely. Do not use a hairdryer as this can damage the wig.
